About Me

Artist Statement

I create art because it gives me a way to express my creativity and imagination through aesthetics and symbolism. My art oftentimes relays on heavy themes of fantasy. The earliest I remember creating art was when I was 10 years old. I dream to one day write and illustrate my own novel or digital webtoon. I also hope to sell my art through commissions & art prints. My art is oftentimes inspired by Ukrainian mythology & culture as I am Russian, Ukrainian. As the oldest immigrant daughter to Ukrainian parents & grandparents that have survived both World War 2 and the current ongoing war, and were raised post the Soviet union era I have witnessed how these tragedies have personally affected and permanently reshaped my family’s life.

When I begin my work I am solely focused on the message I want to put behind the art and how I am going to express it through my personal style. After I have my message and rough work complete I will begin by asking a friend or professional for their input or advice. Once I am pleased with my rough drafts I start the first layer of my work, whether that be digital or with a traditional medium. I enjoy sketching and measuring before painting over the first layer so that everything is proportional. I like to use inspiration from artists like Victor Nizovstev who uses a mythological/fantasy painting style. I love giving my art a fairytale type of feel with small details and highlights.

I am currently focused on my digital art style so that I can improve on it. I am attempting to illustrate and render portraits both digitally and traditionally. I enjoy creating portraits of different people because it shows how dynamic people are and each face can tell a completely different story. I believe our faces are mirrors to our souls as we are able to physically showcase ourselves through our emotions and expressions. I want to retain my heritage through my art, while also further discovering my art style, and show that there is no winning in war.
